Charlotte Minty is an interior designer here in Wellington, New Zealand. We work together photographing her completed projects, beginning with this compact inner city apartment. Beginning life with an industrial aesthetic, Charlotte reimagined this one bedroom apartment as a light filled, soothing environment with a new kitchen and bathroom for the retired couple who call it home. It has clever space saving features, such as a guest bed that is stowed away day to day in the living room wall and stackable occasional furniture. Here are some of my favourite textures from this project, which you can see in it's entirety on Charlotte's blog. I look forward to sharing more projects from this talented designer and friend!
Natty is the brand of Wellington based designers Cat McKay and Fiona Gibb. All their product is handmade here in New Zealand and stocked in their charming Berhampore boutique and workshop as well as gift stores throughout New Zealand. Enjoy this selection of images of their textiles, stationary and jewellery! Shot in the Twig & Arrow studio, epic chair collection from Felicity at Wundaire and thanks to my gorgeous sister Rosie for assisting and modeling!
The Kiss Co is a New Zealand based publishing company and purveyor of beautifully considered children's books and gift products. Founder Ami Muir worked with illustrator Sara Mutande on The Great New Zealand Wrapping Paper Book to produce a collection of 10 wrapping paper designs that are contained cleverly as a book. Enjoy a selection of images from our take on kiwiana for a tasteful audience! Thanks as always to my hand model Anna Briggs, additional props from The Neighbourhood Studio and manicure from Spring Spa!
Llana is the thesis project of three Massey University Masters of Design students, Amy Blackmore, Avara Moody, Annabelle Fitzgerald and American entrepreneur Darrius Langston. It is a bag that bridges the gap between active and working lifestyles and is a result of the desire to incorporate an innovative moisture absorbing and deodorising product, Woolfresh, into the apparel market. The images for this project were to accompany the written component of the thesis of the three students and also to support the crowdfunding campaign to take the bag from prototype into production. Shot on campus at Massey Wellington, with landscape details from the Wellington region and our greenery plinth was created by Twig & Arrow. Model is Xanthe Whiteley from Kirsty Bunny.
Huia Vineyards, in Marlborough, New Zealand, is where Claire and Michael Allan handcraft their certified organic wine. In partnership with Morven McAuley from Tradecraft (amazing woman, amazing company!) I spent from sunrise to sunset in a day in the life of Huia. The people, the place, the fascinating processes behind biodynamic, organic growing and the family and food at Huia made this project a highlight. Enjoy these images with a glass of Marlborough's finest!
Wellington ceramic artist Paige Jarman and I set up a late afternoon picnic to style and shoot her work for New Zealand Design Blog. Paige and I have previously worked together for Homestyle magazine, and I love watching Paige's work develop! I'm looking forward to the next project already. You can find Paige's ceramics online at Common Times, at Small Acorns in Wellington and The Poi Room and The Auckland Art Gallery in Auckland, New Zealand.
Be Happy Food Co produce a range of flavoured and unflavoured cashew and almond milk, here in Wellington, New Zealand. To showcase their new and beautiful packaging I created a range of product images, taking cues from the soft colour palette in the products, created with all natural ingredients. Delicious to drink and look at! Styling featuring a healthy dose of Wundaire (that jug in the first image on loan from my partner in crime The Forest Cantina!!), a sprinkling of Citta linen and a dash of my favourite international brand, Muji.
The Neighbourhood Studio here in Wellington, New Zealand offers the occasional screen printing workshop for junior creative types during school holidays. Creating some imagery to promote these classes was a wonderful opportunity to make use of all the whimsical heritage craft items that owner/operator Eloise Evans uses to decorate her beautiful studio. The screens in these photographs feature the illustrations of friend and collaborator Greta Menzies, who also teaches at the studio. Keep an eye out for the next series of workshops and a big thank you to my miniature models for lending their time!
The Neighbourhood Studio here in Wellington, New Zealand is running a natural dye class with Bonnie De Gros titled Natural Dye Basics - Earth Tones in Linen & Cotton. Earth tones and linen! I was so happy to create the promotional imagery for this workshop. Eloise Evans (owner/operator of the studio) and I ran through the entire process, pausing for the moments when magic happens and then combined these process images with still life of the utensils and ingredients required for natural dye. Enlightening!
All round talented local artist Paige Jarman is gaining momentum with her beautiful signature blue patterned ceramic dishes and bowls.
